The Arty Teacher Case Study | Easy Digital Downloads WordPress Website

Complete Website Migration, Re-Design & Development for The Arty Teacher

The Arty Teacher is a well-established platform providing digital teaching resources for art educators worldwide. Over time, the website had become a key income stream through digital downloads and subscriptions. However, the ageing website was difficult to manage, visually outdated, and unable to fully support the needs of its growing user base.

When they approached us, the site was running on an older eCommerce setup that had become restrictive and fragile. Content management was cumbersome, and the platform lacked the flexibility needed to scale the business and provide the polished customer experience their users expected.

The Arty Teacher needed a complete solution — a fast, secure, and modern website that would elevate the brand and streamline the purchase and download process for their global audience.

A key requirement for the new site was the seamless migration of thousands of products, including digital downloads and associated customer data. It was critical that this transition preserved purchase history and ensured continuity for existing customers.

The project scope included:

  • Full migration of product catalogues, downloads, customer data, and content to WordPress

  • A fresh, modern website re-design aligned with The Arty Teacher’s brand

  • Implementation of Easy Digital Downloads to power digital sales

  • A fully responsive, optimised site to deliver a great user experience across all devices

The goal: to future-proof the platform and support The Arty Teacher’s continued growth and global reac

Our Solution.

To meet the requirements of this project, we selected WordPress paired with Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) — the ideal combination for managing a large library of digital resources while offering full control over content, users, and eCommerce functionality.

We began by thoroughly reviewing The Arty Teacher’s existing website, content structure, and user base to gain a clear understanding of the brand, its audience, and the specific needs of art educators. This informed every stage of the project — from design and UX to functionality and content migration.

A key priority was creating a clean, modern and responsive design that would appeal to a global community of teachers, with an intuitive layout that made it easy to browse, search, and purchase resources — whether on desktop or mobile.

Given the size and complexity of the existing product catalogue, the migration of thousands of digital downloads, categories, and customer accounts required careful planning. We worked closely with The Arty Teacher to restructure and clean the data, ensuring everything was accurately mapped from the legacy system into the new EDD format.

Our migration process successfully imported:

  • All digital products and files

  • Associated product metadata and categories

  • Customer accounts and order histories

  • Download permissions and purchase records

Post-migration, we implemented a range of performance and usability improvements, including enhanced site speed, clearer resource filtering, and a streamlined checkout experience optimised for digital goods.

The final result was a fully redesigned, future-ready website that reflects The Arty Teacher’s brand, improves the customer journey, and empowers the business to scale its digital offering with confidence.
